Fire Fighter Delivers Baby - Five Years Later

One November night in 2012 a first responder fire fighter, Marc Hadden, took on an emergency call.

"It was just a somewhat normal call. Very quickly we realized that it was going to be a life changer for us," says firefighter, Marc Hadden. There was no time to get to the hospital and before he knew it, Marc was delivering a baby girl.

"He called me and he was ecstatic. I mean, he delivered a baby and who in the world gets to deliver a baby in their lifetime that's not a doctor?" said his wife, Beth Hadden.

It wasn't long after that the Haddens found out that baby Marc delivered was put up for adoption. They took it as a sign because they were hoping to adopt a child themselves. In a strange twist of fate, 48 hours after the emergency call the Haddens were taking home their new daughter, Grace.

Five years later, Grace takes gymnastics classes and is preparing for kindergarten. Her mother Beth works as a teacher at the school her daughter will be attending. Her brothers Parker and Will, 12 and 14 respectively, absolutely love their little sister, says their father Marc. He added that Grace knows the entire story of her birth.

"We have never hidden it from her," Marc said. "If you ask her where she was born, she says, 'My daddy delivered me in the back of an ambulance.' She knows the whole story. I wanted her to know as soon as she was old enough to understand."
